Controlling root-to-crest uniformity on threading tools is one of the most difficult challenges in the field of edge preparation. The top photograph shows the high level of uniformity which can be achieved with the IXM-50. In addition to producing uniformity, the IXM-50 is also able to manipulate the size of the edge preparation on different parts of the tool. The bottom photograph shows a unique edge condition in which root and crest of the tool have a larger edge prep than the connecting edge. This type of control over the edge preparation can generate tools with exceptional performance characteristics. |
